HEALTH INSURANCE FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS?
by admin on Feb.07, 2009, under Insurance Program
I’m the full time college student, as well as there have been no state programs out there to assistance me. we had to pierce behind in to my relatives residence (I know we know) as well as my medi-cal got cut, as well as I’m twenty so we can’t be upon my moms…
what kind of insurance is out there which would be affordable for me? Are there any programs we dont know about?

most of the time, as a full time student, even at 20, you COULD get added to your mom’s.
Besides that, the cheapest health insurance is the group plan through your school.

The school usually has a plan and if not try. I am in the short term international insurance business and this web agent sells what you are looking for and is very reputable.

short term programs are out there for people in your situation. try Golden Rule, and there are others, do a search on short term health plans. They are usually cost effective but limited in what they cover. They may not cover pre-existing conditions.

Sometimes, the county will have free medical services. I’d check the county web site and see what I could find out. It’s no picnic, and you have to visit a clinic and wait in line, but they examine a person for free and don’t charge much (if anything) for meds.

Usually, health carriers will allow dependent children to be on their parent’s policy if they are a full time student to age 24. The age varies for each company, some will carry you to age 25, too.
I would check to make sure you can’t get on your Mom’s policy. And, you need to do it within 30 days of losing your other coverage. If they won’t let you, contact an agent in your area that is familiar with the different companies and can get you the best fit.
